With every passing year, more people are drawn into the world of Sim Racing. But what is Sim Racing? In short, they are games designed to accurately simulate real-world racing including realistic car physics, tire wear, grip, fuel usage… you get the point. iRacing

rFactor 2
Developed by Image Space Incorporated and first released for windows in 2012, rFactor 2 is a combination of rFactor (Predisesor to rFactor 2) and rFactor Pro which is used by real Formula 1 and Nascar teams to train their drivers. rFactor offers a variety of racing such as Indy Car, Nascar, GT, Historic, and Custom. rFactor being considered as a true sim has quite a steep learning curve so expect the journey to be tough and simultaneously rewarding.
Assetto Corsa
Assetto Corsa is a game which was released in 2013 by Kunoz Simulazione. The main feature that makes Assetto Corsa stand out from the rest is the game’s open architecture which allows for modders to create content for the game. This includes cars, tracks, Post Processing Filters, Skins, Sounds mods, and a whole lot more. This is the main reason why the game has been alive for such a long time. Assetto Corsa right out of the box looks plain and outdated, but after installing a couple of Mods, The game looks next to real life. Think of Assetto Corsa as the Grand Theft Auto of Sim Racing.
Project Cars 2
You’ve probably heard of this one as well. Project Cars 2 offers various racing modes such as Indy Car, Historic, Nascar & custom with laser scanned tracks and 24-hour weather cycles. Project Cars 2 is considered one of the most beautiful Sim Racing games in existence. It also offers a solid online racing experience with many players. Project Cars 2, similar to the other titles on this list has a learning curve as it is more of a True Sim compared to most other games.
F1 2021
Most Sim Racing games lack Formula 1. The reason being F1 has the rights reserved for their own game making it impossible for other developers to include detailed F1 cars in their respective titles. This is not necessarily a bad thing considering F1 2021 is the most detailed Formula 1 experience you could get. Getting into the shoes of your favorite driver and racing on iconic tracks makes this game deserve a spot on this list.
